Hypnosis
and Guided Imagery
In her years of practice, Donna has found that
clients who are able to use hypnosis successfully get results. Although
experts do not agree on an exact definition of hypnosis nor on exactly
how it works, Donna says, “A working definition would
be that hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation; a highly creative
state between sleeping and waking.” In therapeutic
hypnosis the patient and the therapist work together in an atmosphere
of trust and exploration. Contrary to characterizations popularized
in film, only 1-3% of all people are able to go into a deep amnesic
state.
Both hypnosis and guided imagery work with inner
consciousness to alter outer reality. These processes use inner
awareness to intuit solutions, ferret out inner resources, develop
a witness stance, and cultivate receptivity to spirituality, creativity,
growth, and healing.
