During
her almost 30 years in mental health work in the San Francisco Bay
Area, Donna Morrish has stayed focused on learning what helps people
heal and grow.
A gifted healer who believes spirituality and the body-mind connection
are important components of good mental health, Donna sees herself
as a facilitator who helps her clients take responsibility for their
own healing.
“I
am drawn to therapies that empower clients,” Donna says.
“When people are ready to do the work, they can and will succeed.”
Donna
realized early in her career that one type of therapy does not suit
all people. Never one to shy away from difficult tasks, she has
extensive experience with those who have suffered trauma and catastrophic
loss, including post-suicide, post-homicide, post-earthquake, and
post-fire counseling. Experiences with these and other types of
clients with difficult problems led this lifelong seeker beyond
traditional talk therapy to explore and become certified in a variety
of body-mind techniques. These are often known as Power Therapies
for their ability to help people make changes more rapidly than
they do with traditional therapy alone. Donna has a private practice,
leads workshops, and also teaches continuing education courses for
nurses, MFTs, and LCSWs.
“Emotional
and physical well-being are not just the result of luck or genes,”
Donna says. “The good news is that well-being can be
cultivated if we are willing to do the work.”
Donna’s
workshops and retreats are designed to help participants solve
their own puzzles and reweave their own patterns, remove blocks,
unlock repressed energies, and move toward happier, more productive
lives.
